Hi I'm Jared A. Gonzalez

I am from Utah. I run cross country and track. I am serving a mission to Barcelona, Spain. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy running. I am the youngest of three brothers and have two wonderful parents who are strong in the gospel. I enjoy going on long road trips. I am a certified pharmacy technican and a high school graduate from Riverton High School, class of 2014. I am going to serve a mission to Barcelona, Spain and can't wait to go.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I had parents who taught me the that I should because Jesus told us we should. It wasn't till later that being a Mormon was the best decision I have ever made, even more important than choosing what college to go to or what my major in life I would be. The reason is when I am tempted to do something that I know is wrong, I can have the Holy Ghost tell me that this or that is wrong and I can chose to say no or walk away from the temptation, because I know that I am a child of God and I am trying to live my life in harmony with what God wants so I can return to him some day.

How I live my faith

In my high school, I had many good friends who became great examples for me in my life. I love my ward because they love me. They are a bunch of wonderful people who help everyone within the ward boundaries plus those who we are called to serve. When I am called to teach, I feel my testimony grow because it causes me to reflect on what I have been taught and it brings me closer to my savior and reaffirms truths that I know.

What are Mormon temples used for?

Jared A. Gonzalez
Temples are sacred places where a man and a woman can be sealed together forever, and their children can be sealed to their parents and be together forever too. We build temples to do the saving ordinances (an act to bring one closer to God under the direction of priesthood authority) for those who are dead. This is why we Mormons do a lot of genealogy, because we want our ancestors to have happiness and joy that we have knowing that families can be together forever. Also we do these ordinances so they can be baptized and be sealed to their spouse and children, and enter into God's presence once again. These are places where we can become closer to God here on earth where we can feel peace, and bring questions and pray to find answers in a calm peaceful environment. Show more Show less
