Hi I'm Matt LaTomme

I grew up on the Oregon Coast. I live in California and teach 5th grade. I am a Mormon.

About Me

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." as you can tell, I am kind of a Star Wars geek. I own several copies of the movies, books, toys, and Lego sets. I also enjoy reading other books like the "Harry Potter" series, "Ranger's Apprentice" and "How to Train Your Dragon." When I am not reading or building Lego sets, I work with my Boy Scout troop. I recently finished serving as the Scoutmaster for 7 years. I am married to my best friend. We will be celebrating our 18th anniversary soon. I have 3 children. They are 16, 13, and 10. I have 1 girl and 2 boys. I went to BYU and sang in the BYU Men's Chorus. I sang first tenor. I really enjoyed that experience. With the choir, I performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and was on a PBS Christmas Special. We also made a CD. In Scouting, I have gone to Wood Badge, and recently received the Silver Beaver Award. I am an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. I went to a National Jamboree and the World Jamboree in Australia.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon. I grew up with a very loving and supportive family. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for my Savior and what he has done for me. Families are so important to me. I am happiest when I am spending time with them. It doesn't matter what we are doing. I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation that answers the questions of "Where we came from?", "Why we are here?" and "Where we are going?". The Gospel of Jesus Christ answers those questions for me.

How I live my faith

My favorite way to live my faith is to serve others. I serve as a counselor to the bishop of our local congregation. I have the opportunity to teach the members about Jesus Christ. I also have taught the youth of our church for a number of years. I do my best to set an example and live like the Savior would.
