Hi I'm Elizabeth Fluegel

I'm from Illinois, I'm an identical twin, I'm a college student, I'm an avid journal writer, and I love Jane Austen anything!

About Me

My name is Elizabeth! In my family I am the oldest of 8 girls and one boy, it's crazy and so much fun! I grew up in Northern Illinois. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying to become a teacher. I love the color pink, pigs are my favorite animal (because they're pink and adorable), and I love mid-western thunderstorms (not so much the tornadoes though;). Thanks to my identical twin, I've had my best friend by my side my entire life, and that experience has taught me how to be a true friend to others. Also, growing up near most of my extended family taught me that the most important thing in life is having a family that loves and supports each other.

Why I am a Mormon

There are points in my life where I feel completely alone, or completely confused. Those are the times when I have learned to put my trust in God and ask Him for help. For example, when I was in 6th grade, all my friends from grade school made new friends, and I realized at the end of the year that I didn't have any friends anymore. I felt alone and wondered why this was happening. So, the summer before 7th grade, I prayed to Heavenly Father to send me someone to become friends with. The first day of 7th grade came, and as a determined 12 year old, I figured out who the new people were in my class, and I saw a girl who was new and didn't know many people. I reached out to her and we became friends that very first day. She has been one of my best friends ever since! I know Heavenly Father answers our prayers, and cares about our lives and all the little things in them. The gift of the Holy Ghost that I received after baptism is what guides me along God's path for me and helps me know what is right and what is wrong. I go to Him with all my decisions now, in picking my major, in choosing friends, and all other aspects of my life. I go to Him when I am in need, when I'm afraid, and He always takes care of me and carries me through every trial. I have found that my plans are never as good as the plans that God has for me. His plan is always better than my plan. I want to follow the path he has for me, and I am always happiest when I choose to follow it. I'm so grateful for being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; I have found the tools I need to follow God's plan for me because of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by doing simple things such as praying reading the Bible and Book of Mormon daily, and trying to find opportunities to serve others every day. I used to walk around school and just mind my own business, but I've found that if I reach outside of my comfort zone, and make friends with those who may need a friend, I can influence the lives of others around me and make others happy. I made a goal this year to serve someone on purpose every day. I'll admit I haven't been the best at it, but it has made me more aware of others, and I hope some day that I will be able to make all the attributes of Christ my strengths. I also attend church meetings and classes weekly, and participate in these meetings by teaching Sunday school lessons, and sharing my thoughts about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
