Hi I'm Aleta

I am Mormon. I grew up in the western Kentucky coal fields on a farm and the first in my family to be born into the church.

About Me

I am the mother of 6. I was a stay at home mom for 17 years. All my children are now adults and I enjoy life as a grandma. I enjoy sewing - cooking - gardening - doing crafts - working on family history - serving in church callings - visiting new places - attending our temples - being out side in nature. I discovered I can do hard things by going to Red River Gorge and zip lining across the gorge - and repelling off a cliff's edge a couple of years ago. AWESOME! (I don't really care for heights)

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS home - my parents were converts. I loved going to church as a child but as I became older I knew that I could not stand on my parents understanding and testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I had introduced a friend to the elders and they had challenged this friend to pray to know if the gospel was true - I took on that challenge also. One night I fervently prayed to my Father in Heaven and asked if the Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was in fact the only true church on the Earth. As I ended my prayer and gazed upon a picture of Christ hanging in the moonlight across the room - the sweetest peaceful feeling flooded my whole body and it was as if I heard "you know it is true" in my mind and in my heart I knew it and could not deny it. Never before had I prayed so hard to know something and never had I been so sincere -

How I live my faith

I have served in many church callings - some of my favorites are with the children and the youth. Creating events such as camp and youth conferences (retreats) are a lot of work but so rewarding when you see change come into the lives of those who are participating. I have the opportunity to help youth prepare to be leaders. Going to church each Sunday is really important to me as I feel it fills my lamp with the oil needed for the next week. Attending the temple regularly strengthens me in my faith of our Lord and Savior. Reading from the scriptures daily helps me to know of my Saviors love for me and all his children.
