Hi I'm Dixie

I am the twelfth of thirteen children. I have trekked in the Himalayas. I am a Mormon

About Me

Run a B&B on our Ranch. A Mom to five children, widowed, remarried, now have ten children, twenty eight grands, 5 great grands and counting. Ride horses, write poetry, read, love to cook

Why I am a Mormon

I based my belief system and my reasons for being a good person on wanting the respect and love of my Dad and my oldest brother. Within two and a half months of each other, death took them from me. I lost my foundation. It was built on sand. Then I had children and wanted them to have a secure base. The Spirit taught me in quiet hours that I had a Saviour who would always be there, had and always would love me. What greater gift could I give my children than to have someone watching over them even after I will leave this earth. I want to be married longer than 'till death do you part'. I have been sealed for Time and all Eternity to my family. There is no greater peace than to have that security.

How I live my faith

Have served two missions. In Tennessee cleaning, repairing and preparing old court documents for micro filming and digitizing and as a site guide in Old Nauvoo, an LDS Historical site. Have served in Alberta Cardston Temple. Served in leadership and classroom positions, with each one important to my developing a closer relationship with my Saviour and my community. My greatest desire is to share the peace and joy I know with those who don't have that.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Happiness in marriage is all about being the kind of person that someone else wants in their life but to remain true to who we are. The Saviour knows us better than we know ourselves. We come to earth as part of a family so we can learn to be selfless, like the Saviour. If you designed a computer game, you would know exactly the purpose of the game and the most correct and fastest way to play the game. And so it is with our life here on earth, within our family and marriages. Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven created the Plan of Salvation and know the purpose for our lives. Why turn to others for answers when their counsel and directions are free and instantly available. There is no greater joy in life than to have happiness in our homes that they may be a refuge from the world, to have a spouse and children than love you and honor you. I know from experience that it is possible. It doesn't happen over night or without a lot of work, all of which help us grow and develop. With faith and trust in the Lord we can become a person who can love unconditionally and thus be more like the Saviour. Show more Show less
