Hi I'm Mary

I am an adoptee, music junkie, animal lover, wife, and actress/singer. We don't have children, but we do have a cat and a puppy.

About Me

I love to perform and sing, so most of the time you'll find me in rehearsal or on one of the many stages in the Utah theatre community. When I'm not performing, I'm a certified makeup artist and makeup educator, which is another one of my passions. I love all things food and music, and my husband and I have a lovely cat and a difficult puppy.

Why I am a Mormon

I once read a quote that said (and I'm paraphrasing here): I would much rather live believing there is a God and discovering there is not than believing there is not and discovering there is. When I say that, it's not a call to the world to believe what I believe; however, for me in my life, what harm can it do? I cannot believe there would be any Deity who would, at the end of my life, chastise me for believing the way I did in hopes of being the best I could be as an imperfect individual and return to live with God. I feel loved, secure, safe, cared for, and empowered as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I feel remarkably blessed that I am able to be a part of a religion that not only receives but relies upon modern-day revelation through a prophet and apostles, and to know that I may also receive revelation for myself is awe-inspiring. I may not live my religion perfectly, but I have seen in small and large ways how it has made my life better, and I cannot deny that.

How I live my faith

Since we just moved into our first home, I don't yet have a calling, but I've had several music-based callings (ward organist, ward chorister, pianist in other auxiliaries, and choir director), along with visiting teaching coordinator and Gospel Doctrine Sunday School instructor. I share my testimony almost monthly, and I'll admit that's mostly for me, so I can "remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that [I] must build [my] foundation ..." (Helaman 5:12)
