Hi I'm Scott

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I joined the church in 1996 when I was 32.

About Me

I married a sweet lady in 2002 who grew up as a member. In 2003 we had our first child and have since had 2 more children all who have been born under the covenant. I work as a teaching assistant with SEN children and adults in special schools and in mainstream settings. I collect limited/special edition chocolate. I have ridden a bike from London Temple to the Preston Temple for charity. I am involved in fundraising for 2 of my children to have regular therapy for special needs. I love gardening and watching The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven. I am a 49ers fan and I love Scotland football team (?). Music is important to me. I have seen Tony Bennett, Rod Stewart, ELO and many others. My favourite hymn is Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel. I am reading 3 books at the moment (other than the scriptures), Scotland - A History of a Nation, Why I Jump (a book about autism) and The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to work in McDonalds doing children's parties and on occasion missionaries would come in and I would talk with them about the San Francisco 49ers. I knew that the quarterback was a member and I was asked by a missionary if I was a member. I said that I wasn't but I wouldn't mind finding out about the church. I didn't go into the discussions with the idea of becoming a member. I just wanted to be informed about the church so that if it came up in discussion with my friends I could dispel the myths about having 6 wives and giving all your money to the church. I had my 1st discussion on Valentines Day 1996. I was taught by 2 Sister missionaries in the foyer of the church offices in Wylde Green. I had the lessons every 2 or 3 days and I was baptised on March 3rd (17 days after my 1st discussion). I didn't understand everything that I was told but I understood enough to know that being baptised was the right thing for me to do. I have had quite a few callings and have learnt about God's Great Plan of Happiness and my role in that plan. It makes sense to me that a loving Heavenly Father wants the best for each one of us and that we face may challenges in our lives. It is a great help to me to know that when things happen that I don't understand that I have a loving friend who understands me and will stand by me. I don't ask for an end to my trials, just the strength to get through them. I have a love of nature, animals and all things that God has created. Giving service is something that I love to do as it reminds me that that is what Jesus did here on the earth and I know that He continues to love me and all of mankind.

How I live my faith

I love my wife and our 3 children. We try to bring them up with correct principles. I am currently serving as Sunday School President in a Ward in the Lichfield Stake. I lead the discussions in Adult Sunday School. The Old Testament has many exciting stories and characters. I support my wife who has a calling which means that she is responsible for adult females in the Ward. I attend Knock on Every Door (as often as circumstances permit) which is a missionary oriented programme. We have the missionaries over to have food with us every week. They bring a special spirit with them. I try to help people and to keep it quiet because it only matters to me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know.
