Hi I'm Tiffany Browne

Life is always a crazy adventure here at the Browne house! I'm an Army wife. I'm the mother to four crazy kids, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

For the past 4 years I have lived in Sendai, Japan with my husband and 4 children aged 16, 15, 12, and 7. We have loved Sendai so much, but as with all Army families it's time to move again and so we will continue our journey in Tokyo. We were here during the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami, and although we did not lose any of our belongings or loved ones we did have some trials that we were able to overcome with The Lord's help. I love to sew and was the costume designer for the yearly Broadway Jr. musicals that my children's school, Tohoku International School produces. I was the PTA President at the school for 3 years and loved working with some of the greatest parents in the world! PTA Work Day was the highlight of my week! Our ward is Japanese speaking, so our missionaries teach free english lessons once a week. For 3 years I taught the advanced class and for the last 6 months I taught the kid's class. I love working with people and the English conversation class was a blast! Through doing PTA and teaching the kid's english class I discovered that I love to look on the internet for learning materials, print them, cut them out, and laminate them. I can pretend that I'm a teacher without having to do the not-so-fun teacher stuff! I enjoy listening to music that I can dance to or sing at the top of my lungs and hopefully at the same time embarrass my kids. I love to laugh and I try to get others to laugh too. My family is loud and crazy but I wouldn't trade anything!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager I went through a three year rebellion. I always knew that the church was true, I just didn't want to live by the rules. I can definitely say that my life is happier and filled with more joy as I try to live by the Lord's teachings! Over the years, and especially since moving to Japan I have seen the Lord's hand in my life so much! I know that I am a child of God and that he knows me personally, he loves me, is happy when I'm happy and sad when I'm sad. Through the events surrounding the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami I was able to see the love that my Father in heaven has for me, my family, and the great people of Japan. Our family relied heavily upon the Lord during that time. In March 2012 my little brother, who is my only sibling past away after battling a cruel disease. Though the experience has been terrible, the thing that has gotten our family through is the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and knowing that I will see and live with my brother again someday. I love that the church is the same no matter where in the world I am. I might not understand very much about what is being said because it's all in Japanese but the teachings are all the same. I love this gospel and am so thankful that I have the knowledge of the restored gospel and the complete happiness that it gives me!

How I live my faith

Since moving to Japan I have had so many opportunities to share the gospel. This was something that I rarely did in America. I would talk about church stuff with friends all the time but I had never given anyone a Book of Mormon or invited someone to meet with the missionaries. I was way too scared! As I got to know my Japanese teacher we would have great discussions about the church, and when the missionaries would ask us "Do you have anyone you'd like to share the gospel with?" she would come to mind. I knew that the Lord wanted her to hear the fullness of the gospel! I was up early one morning preparing my seminary lesson, we were studying the book of Acts and I was reading about the kind of missionary that Paul was. He was a very blunt missionary, he didn’t sugar-coat things, he got straight to the point and just said it. I thought to myself “Hmm, maybe I need to be like Paul and just tell her how I feel” All of the sudden I felt the Spirit so strongly, probably the most intensely I’ve ever felt it in my life, and I knew that Heavenly Father just wanted me to open my mouth and tell her what I was feeling! When the time came I poured my heart out to her. I told her that I was scared to death, but I also told her that I loved her and that I loved the gospel and that I had something that made me so happy and that I wanted to share it with her. The Spirit was so strong, and the pure joy and excitement at being an instrument in the Lord’s hand was immeasurable.I know that when we share the gospel and lead others to Christ the joy and happiness we feel will lead us to want to share the gospel with even more people. That feeling is the best kind of addiction there is! I believe that through living the commandments, trying to live and love as Jesus Christ does, and through providing lots of service we can have a joy filled life. My goal in life is that when others walk away from me they will have a smile on their face and feel good about themselves!
