Hi I'm Kate

I am a dedicated aunt, professional marketer, fun seeking, social, lover of mountains and I am a Mormon.

About Me

First things first, I am obsessed with my family. There are a lot of good people in this world, but I am convinced that my family ranks pretty close to the top of that list. When I was 3 years old, my mom found out that she had a brain tumor. Later that year she had it removed and for the next 8 years battled with health problem after health problem until eventually the brain cancer came back and she passed away. In the next couple of years after that, my family struggled with a lot of different issues but instead of choosing to grow apart or be bitter, we band together to help each other because we all knew that we needed each other. Ever since then, we have been very tight knit and have provided a support group for each other throughout life's trials. I don't know what I would do without my family. Besides hanging out with my nieces and nephews, I like to meet people. I love people. I am always amazed that we can be so different and have unique qualities but find commonalities in the strangest ways. I have bonded with people over everything from singing at the top of our lungs and dancing around the house to having similar interests in business or reading the same books. People are awesome. Aside from family and friends, I am convinced that the recipe for any hard day is a dose of exercise in nature. Walking, running, hiking, it doesn't matter...if I spend at least a half hour a day outside doing something physical, I am a happy woman.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I feel extremely blessed to have had this spiritual support and knowledge throughout every experience that I have had. The reason I love the gospel of Jesus Christ so much is because I am allowed to have a personal relationship with Christ and our Heavenly Father. I am a solutions based person and I love getting to the root of the problem so I can understand and resolve it. There is nothing more difficult than when I realize that I can't resolve an issue. There is no solution. We have all been through these times in life when it feels so dark that you aren't sure how you are ever going to get out or make it through. It's in those times when I pray my heart out and know that even though I can't solve those issues, God can and Jesus Christ can. And they will. Christ has sacrificed for each of us through the Atonement to make all things right. He did that because He loves us. Each time I sincerely rely on Him and pray to God for help, I receive a feeling of peace or resolution to the problem. Solutions very rarely come quickly but the feeling that I am not alone and that Christ and Heavenly Father love me always comes if I open my eyes to it. There is a popular "Primary" song that we are taught when we are young that says, "I am a child of God. Rich blessings are in store; If I but learn to do his will, I'll live with him once more. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday." This teaches us of the very beginning teachings of the "Plan of Salvation." This plan has taught me that I will get to see my mom again and that the positive relationships with my family that I have on this Earth will continue for eternity. It has also taught me that God wants us to be with Him and that He is working to help us be the kind of person that can live with Him again someday. I love the Church, I love Christ and I love life.

How I live my faith

When I think of Christ, I think of love. The kind of love that doesn't go away. He gives us tough love when we need it and He also gives us tender care when we need it. He never leaves us. That's the way that I try to live my faith. I want to be there for people in the way that Christ is there for me and each of us. One of our prophets, President Spencer W. Kimball, once said, "God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs." My main goal as a member of this Church is to become more like Christ and serve others. I want to be there for people. I want them to know I love them. I want to listen to them. I want to do fun things with them. I want to hug them on days when they can't go on. I want them to know that they aren't alone. I want to smile and laugh and have adventures together. I want to help people be happy. I am nowhere near perfect or even close to meeting this goal but I know that if I call someone, drop by for a visit, remember someone's name or try to find something in common with someone that I would appear to have nothing in common with, I am coming closer to meeting my goal. The most amazing part about it is, when I focus on others, my life gets better...SO much better.
