Hi I'm Rachel Knight

I am a Mormon, and I cherish my Faith and testimony. I am married, I am a Paediatric nurse, distance learning tutor and artist.

About Me

I have been married to my best friend for 11 years. During this time I have sadly suffered with PCOS, and multiple re-current miscarriages. This has caused me to suffer with depression. However, with the loving support of my family, I have been able to face these challenges. I am grateful for how these experiences have strengthened my marriage and given me a deeper knowledge of the power of the atonement in my personal life. I am a qualified childrens nurse, with experience working in SCBU, school nursing and health visiting. I decided to have a career break, and have just graduated from a Fine Art degree. I hope to eventually go onto become a trained psychologist specialising in art therapy. I currently work from home as a distance learning tutor, providing support to care assistants and nursing home managers who engage in health and social care courses. I am 1 of 5 children, and I love each of my brothers and my sister for their individual achievements and the unity they bring to our family. I am ever grateful for loving patient parents for their ongoing support and the example they have set to me. It is to my parents that I owe my strenght of testimony of the restored gospel. I love being an auntie, and confess i spoil my nieces and nephews-but they are more that worth it! They fill a void in my life and each one is precious to me. In my spare time I love to try any new craft, and enjoy painting, drawing and sculpture. I also enjoy reading, especially historical fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

Being brought up in the church, my life in this gospel has been a way of life and integral to who I am. As a youth, I turned to Heavenly Father in prayer to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I had a strong witness that i already know the answer to this question. I have a firm testimony of the Book of Mormon and the restored gospel. I have never doubted my faith. Life has certainly brought me challenges, each time I miscarried or wept for the family I couldn't have, the spirit provided me comfort to overcome the sadness. Life can be hard at times. Things happen that we can't control. It is not our challenges that define us, but the way that we cope with them. So many times in life we feel consumed by these challenges, however with hope for the future we can look forward with a brightness of hope. That hope for me has come from the knowledge that we have a Father in Heaven who knows our individual needs. That no matter what we do in our lives, all can be made well through the atonement of our brother, Jesus Christ. He suffered not only for our sins, but also for the anguish and heartache of life. He knows how to comfort me, because he has felt my pain. The knowledge that I am sealed to be married to my Husband for eternity has strengthened my marriage, and enabled us to look forward to our lives with purpose beyone death. I know that I will be able to embrace those I love again one day, death is not the end. Knowing that I have the promise of eternal life with my Husband and best friend along with my family with my heavenly father, gives my joy in life. I know that the church is true, i have lived my life by its principles, and I have been able to face my challenges in life with a smile. I love being a member of this church and the hope it brings. I love the friends and bonds I have built with the members and love the common faith we share. I know I have a Heavenly Father who knows me and will never give me challenges beyond my ability to cope. I know he loves me.

How I live my faith

I grew up in the church, and was grateful to be able to progress through the church programmes. I have held many callings in the church. I enjoyed working in young womens with the girls age 12-18 yrs, it was challenging but I cherish the memories we have built together. Much of my church experience has been working in primary with the children. I have served on the presidency, as well as a teacher and nursery leader. I love seeing the excitment in the children as they come into primary and engage in the lessons with their friends. Its inspiring to see their testimonies of Heavenly Father's love for them grow. I have also servied as the activities chairperson in my ward, where i organised lots of activites for the ward. I especially loved organising the Christmas Party, which was exhausting, but what a way to start the Christmas season than a great party with people you love! Family is very important to me. I love spending time with my extended family and the unity that we have together. I love each of them very much. My husband and I love being members of the church and cherish the friendships with have built with the members in the wards we have been in. We have been privilaged to serve the members of our ward, as we have helped them to overcome challeges in life, celebrated success, and provided needed service. I strive each day to be an ambassator of Christ, as I try to live my life as a cerished daughter of God. I look for ways to serve and show love to others and place my family as the most important thing in my life.
