Hi I'm Jacob Medearis

I grew up in Oregon. I'm a convert of four years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to be studying at Brigham Young University, Idaho to obtain my Musical Performance major. I've played football from 3rd grade through freshman spring ball, and I'm adamant about running. I want to travel to Russia some day.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was nine years old, I learned that my friend was a Mormon. It made me mad, because my mom told me that they believed in another bible, and a false prophet. At a very young age, I wanted to live my life according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. After four more years, I had to move out of my little town to an even smaller town due to a large flood that demolished our apartment. From that time forward, instead of only working on the farm, we lived in a trailer out on the farm, due to the fact that we were in the process of building our own two story house. Within a few years, after roughing it without electricity, in only a small trailer and an outhouse, we moved in to our semi-livable home. A few times we went to bed and woke up to the sound of hammers and saws. I remember painting the front porch, and my step dad at the time told me that I would always remember being a part of that house. Meanwhile, the missionaries miraculously found us out in the "boondocks" for some crazy reason. After feeling bad for shutting them out so many times, my mom found herself letting them in, and eventually listening to what they had to say. They made many mistakes, and we quarreled, but I always knew one thing and it was certain; they truly loved us. It seemed so stupid to think that someone I didn't know loved me, but I've learned about this as I've grown and experienced many life changing instances. When my mom and my brother both decided to be baptized, I decided that I had to make a hard decision at the age of 13. I felt that it may not be the right decision to join the church. That night, I read a chapter of the Book of Mormon, and prayed to God, asking if this was the direction that he wanted me to go. I felt curious, and a little comforted when I had asked the Lord, and today I'm a four year convert. I know I haven't just made the right choice, but that I've made the best possible choice anyone can make. My name is Jacob Medearis, and I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by spreading the love of Christ. As a Christian, I do my best and let God do the rest. There isn't a time in my life where I would say I couldn't have improved. Church had always been an extra thing in my life, but I've come to learn that it's a blessing. I love sharing the gospel.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jacob Medearis
Jesus Christ is the center of our religion. We want to be just as He is, and we know that as He took upon all of our sins, and then died for us on the cross, that He overcame death. Now we can live with our Heavenly Father again because of the Atonement, or the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us. Show more Show less
