Hi I'm Dawn

I was blessed to be born into a large family with eight sisters and 2 brothers. Family is the best! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mother of two daughters and three sons, and a grandmother of two granddaughters and 12 grandsons. I returned to college eight years ago because I love to learning about people, places and things and I just graduated. A favorite class was short stories by such authors as Leo Tolstoy, John Updike, Stephen Crane and many more. I expect and hope to continue learning new things because there is just so much to learn. My husband is amazing and we love spending time together. We love to travel to see other places and countries and experience new cultures. We love to garden together, trying new varieties of fruit trees and flowers. We like hiking in the mountains and walking along beaches. I find new cultures and languages interesting as well as foods from other regions and countries. We love spending time with our grandchildren. Family is everything!

Why I am a Mormon

I feel it a great blessing to have been born into a family with parents who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been greatly influenced by their testimonies and has grown as I have lived the principles of the gospel and have endeavored to keep my baptismal covenants with my Savior. When I read the scriptures about Him and His life, I feel His love for me, my family and for all mankind. I know that He is aware of us in this day just as He has been of people throughout history. He has given us prophets in our day that teach us what He himself would teach us if He were here among us. Having His truth and guidance to help me make righteous choices and to teach my children and grandchildren what is right gives me hope for a close and happy family. Through great study of His gospel and by trying to live it through obedience and service to others, I know that He lives and that He loves and cares about us and is in the details of our lives. Attempting to live the gospel as our Savior lived and taught, brings the greatest peace I have found in my life as well as the greatest happiness.

How I live my faith

Having lived in several communities away from my loved ones due to my husband's employment, I find that the Church becomes my "family away from family." As members of the church, we are able to mingle weekly and serve each other and assist in teaching each others children in the wards where we have lived. The Church of Jesus Christ is just that, Christ's church in these latter days that follows the pattern the Savior set for us, which is to serve our fellow-travelers in this mortal existence. As members of the Church, we receive "callings"that put us in a position to serve with others as well as serve others. I have had the opportunity to teach, lead young women in spiritual capacities as well as at girls camp. I have been able to share skills I have learned such as playing the piano and leading the music with children as well as adults. I feel honored to share my testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ, to let other people know how I feel about Him because I know He knows each one of us and He wants to bless and help us find joy and happiness in this life and forever.
