Hi I'm Alan

I grew up in Bountiful, Utah. I went on a mission to the province of Quebec. I am a French professor at BYU-I.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife named Mary. We have 5 children, four boys and one girl, with one on the way. We really enjoy being together. My family and I really enjoy being together and working in our yard. I love bushes and trees. I have perhaps 20 different kinds of fruiting bushes and trees. We like to go on walks and we enjoy serving our neighbors. My boys and I enjoy martial arts and watching old movies. One of my favorite movies is called High Noon.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church and went on a mission. On my mission, I did a lot of praying about the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Because of my praying, I received a testimony of the truthfulness of the first vision of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book and, because of that, I know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God.

How I live my faith

My family and I read the Book of Mormon every evening before going to bed. It is sometimes difficult with four small boys and a baby girl. We go to church every Sunday and we serve our neighbors as much as we can when they are moving in, or if they need help with a project in their yard. We also visit some members of our congregation (ward) at least once a month to see how they are doing.
