Hi I'm Jocelyn

I grew up in Nevada. I love music and learning new things. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 19 years old and i'm also the only active member in my family but I hope that will change one day! I'm the oldest of four children and i'm often referred to as "the 2nd mom" haha. I have been chosen to serve in the Kansas Wichita mission for a period of 18 months and I couldn't be more excited! I know it will be one of the most important things I do in my life besides one day starting a forever family of my own! After my mission I hope to be able to attend college and one day become a teacher. I love to learn new things and teach what I know to those around me so I know what I want to do with my life. I hope to be able to use my love of music and my passion for the love that Christ has for us to one day influence someones life for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've learned the difference between "being happy" and having true Joy. I wasn't active in the church very much as a child, (basically I didn't even know/remember that I was a "Mormon" until I was a freshman year of high school). Well looking back on those years, they were some of the hardest years I've ever went through. Music has always been a HUGE part of my life and before I realized that I could rely on my Heavenly Father music was all that I had. I spent many nights absorbed in music trying to "make myself happy". Well when I started high school, someone told my parents to start sending me to the, "early morning Mormon class" (a.k.a. Seminary). They told my parents I would make some great friends and it would be a great way to start high school. All I remember thinking is, why would anyone in their right mind get up an hour before school (which was already early) to go to yet ANOTHER class. Well now I know why. I did make some of the greatest friends a person could ever ask for there, but most importantly, I learned more about my Heavenly Father and myself that I could have ever learned anywhere else. I wasn't in love with seminary until I saw older youth sharing with me their "amazing experiences" that they had in seminary. I thought they were crazy for reading scriptures at night and actually listening to the lessons that were prepared each morning. So I thought I would prove them wrong...man did I fail. What a great failure it was! I'm so grateful for the knowledge that my peers and leaders had and the courage they had to share it with me, because of these things i'm now preparing to serve a full time mission and I couldn't be any happier with my life!

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by trying to be an example to those around me. I visit the temple as often as I can because I know that's where i'm supposed to be and the spirit that I feel there is like nothing I've ever experienced/felt in my entire life! Even though I'm not a full time missionary yet, I try and tell everyone I know about the happiness that I feel around me because of my Saviors love. I'm currently the choir director in my ward and I love every minute that I get to spend telling people about what I believe through music.
