Hi I'm Elder Ethan Harradine

Full-time missionary in the Alpine German-speaking mission. British.

About Me

I was brought up in Essex, England. When I was sixteen I moved to the Middle East, where I lived with my family in Kuwait for two years. Since April 2015 I have been called to preach the gospel to the people of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission; to carry the message of strength and peace that the gospel brings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living the gospel every day helps me to become a better person than I was the day before. For me it is not just about going to church every week, or reading your scriptures every day, although these are important. It is a mental attitude that dictates everything about me, because I can most effectively help others if I am being the best person I can be. I have been lucky enough to be born into the church, and to a family who values it. I have a strong testimony that it is true, that Jesus Christ died so that when I make mistakes, I can repent and move on. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that we have a living prophet on the earth today. My faith and testimony of the gospel is part of who I am and will become. It means more to me than anything else in the world.

How I live my faith

As a full-time missionary my faith very literally defines every decision I make. I spend everyday talking to and teaching people about how they can come closer to Jesus Christ in all aspects of their lives. I am always aware that I cannot teach someone about a principle that I do not understand myself. God gives me strength as I read the scriptures and pray, personally and with my companion. One of my favourite scriptures is found in 1 Corinthians 2:5, 'your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God'. I have a testimony that the only way we can receive a personal witness of the truthfulness of the gospel is through having faith in God. I also have a strong testimony of service. Throughout my life I have been blessed to be able to give service to those less fortunate than me. I find that the doctrine of the gospel becomes clearer and simpler when thought about in the context of serving others.
