Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Finnish geek with tendency to overthink everything. My goal in life is to understand people and everything. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always loved finding new ways to understand other people, which I do more by reading books, playing video games, fangirling over character development in tv shows and movies, live-action roleplaying and studying different personality type theories than actually interacting with other people. Then again, there's nothing better than having long, deep conversations with friends and strangers who know what it means to agree to disagree and to grow through understanding other point of views. I'm the only member in my family and found my church friends only after I joined the church, but I've managed to not feel like I live in two different worlds: Everyone in my life knows and accepts me as a member of this church and I couldn't have wished for better family and friends. Right now I'm serving a mission in Scotland and/or Ireland, and thus won't be seen with a leather jacket, blue hair-dye or army boots at least for 18 months. It's a good thing I have three sisters who gladly borrowed most of my books, music and dvd's for the time I'm away.

Why I am a Mormon

I trust my my Saviour, Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father to always be there for me. I used to believe only simple people could have faith; that no one in their right mind would listen to some guy talking on and on about sin and stuff each Sunday morning. I admired the religious people, yeah, but I never truly understood why they followed all these rules and whatnot. Then I went to Holland to study for five months, met the missionaries and returned as a member of this church. I've never made a better choice in my life than to let those two nametag-wearing cool guys in my small apartment. What I learned from the missionaries made sense: That Jesus Christ had organized his church back when he was still around and that after

How I live my faith

I've never been great with daily routines, but I've learned that daily prayer and scripture study really help me be in tune with my faith. I used to teach Sunday School for 18-30-year-old young adults and I believe no one learned as much as I did during those months. I enjoy going to the weekly meetings where we study the scriptures, discuss faith and play games in order to get to know each other a little better. I live my faith by finding the gospel in everything around us, by waking up to church on Sundays no matter how late I went to sleep on Saturday and by trying my best to be of help to other people. I'm also a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 9/2014 to spring 2016. I serve those 18 months in Ireland and/or Scotland.
