Hi I'm Spencer

I love creating digital art and stories. I enjoy singing and playing music. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student majoring in computer science with animation. My career will veer into film visual effects. I have lots of hobbies: digital art, film, programming, creative writing, and music. I also sing and play piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up as a Mormon. My heart always felt it was right since I was young, but like everyone, my belief was tested. A lot of the struggle came when I did things I was ashamed of. My guilt brought me to the point that I thought I could never, ever crawl out and face life the same. Then I had to ask myself: do I really believe in repentance, in forgiveness, in mercy? As I stopped focusing on working through struggles with pure grit, I was able to focus on trusting Christ to strengthen, purify, and uplift me as I got better. I couldn't imagine, in those moments, that I would be able to feel so much inner peace as I do now. The longer I continue to keep the commandments, pray and trust in God, the clearer I see God's hand in my life. Even when we fall short or life disappoints us, I know that God has put us on a path that He knows will help us grow.

How I live my faith

I just simply live my faith by my example of trying my best and helping others. Although I'm not perfect, I can at least show people the path on which I'm traveling. At the same time, I'll share my beliefs, online and in person, not to enforce my beliefs or lifestyle on others, but simply because it makes me happy. When you find your new favorite movie or TV show, wouldn't you try to share it with all your friends? The gospel of Christ has changed what life means to me for the better, and so I will unashamedly, but respectfully, share it with others.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Spencer
The Atonement, put simply, is when Christ suffered the consequences of our sins--our pains, afflictions, and sins--and was resurrected so we may return to God if we believe in Christ, keep God's commandments, and repent and forsake of our sins. If He did not perform the Atonement, we would certainly have to answer God for all our sins and, according to justice, suffer for them. It was necessary to perform this Atonement so we may have mercy from our repented sins. Because of Adam and Eve's transgressions, all mankind would be mortal and fall away in sin. Christ's Atonement overcame both those consequences. We will all live again to see God, and we can all become clean from our sins as we live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Spencer
Local congregations are called wards, where members can attend church meetings as well as grow together spiritually. In areas where the number of church members is small, the congregations are called branches. These wards or branches are contained in a regional church community called a stake. At each level, there are leaders who preside: wards have a bishop, branches have a branch president, and the stake has a stake president. Show more Show less
