Hi I'm Calvin Johnson

I am a civil engineering student, a professor's assistant, a husband, a father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always been an athlete. I have played many sports while growing up and love all sports. As a very young boy I played baseball, soccer, and football. As I grew up I stuck with football and picked up track and field. I don't play anything competitively anymore but I still love to get friends and family together to play volleyball, soccer, football, golf, basketball, and the list goes on and on. Along with physical activity I also love mental activity. Ever since I first laid hands on LEGOs when I was a small boy I have been trying to build things. I loved tinkering with LEGOs, K'Nex, and wood blocks. I guess that would be why I'm studying to be an engineer. My wife and I live in a humble little apartment and make just enough to cover our needs. We are certainly happy despite our humble circumstances. With a little girl on the way, we really couldn't be more thrilled about our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but I too had to decide for myself at some point whether I would remain a member of this church or not. My decision was not made based on one experience that made everything clear to me. My decision was made and is continually made based upon small experiences I have from day to day. I have found throughout my life that when I am following Jesus Christ's teachings and the counsel of living Apostles I am happy and at peace. On the other hand, when I have chosen not to follow Christ's teachings and the living Apostles' words I have been confused, sad, frustrated, and lost. These experiences have borne witness to me that Jesus Christ lives and He continues to lead His church on earth. I know that Christ has chosen living men to be his Apostles and Prophets on the earth today. As we listen to living Prophets and Apostles we are hearing the words of God just as in the time of Peter, James, and John.

How I live my faith

In my church I am responsible for helping missionaries share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to help other members of our church reach out to those in need. In our Sunday meetings I help teach others about the principles that Christ taught. I love being able to share with others and hear their experiences as well. I get to visit many people whether they are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or not.
