Hi I'm Marissa Avila

I am a student. I love to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Do you love to travel? Why? I love to travel because I get to see cultures, new traditions, values and new ways of living. For me, traveling allows me to open my eyes and broaden my perspectives on life. As I see new places and people I can take what I like and incorporate that into my life. For me traveling is a form of learning, which I also love. I have really enjoying studying in the University and I hope to continue learning, traveling and growing my entire life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have noticed throughout my life, that I am happiest when I am living the gospel and striving to be more like my savior, Jesus Christ. Because of the happiness, peace and direction I feel when I am living right, I know that the gospel is true and I know that being a Mormon is right. I know that God wants all of his children to be happy and so he has provided the scriptures, the prophets, the Holy Ghost, the commandments and the gospel in its fulness to guide and direct us.

How I live my faith

As a missionary for my church I learned the importance of service and love. Since I have returned from my year and a half mission I have tried to continue serving those around me. One year I set a goal to participate in some form of service project every week. That experience allowed me to interact and share love with many different demographics of people. I also try to serve those in my immediate church group, or ward. Right now I have the responsibility in my church to serve, watch over and strengthen the women in my ward. I do so through visits, little notes, cookies, a text, or even a smile.
