Hi I'm Jay

I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. I'm a college student. I'm a runner. I'm a proud Uncle. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student at BYU trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life. I love anything social studies(psychology, history, economics, politics, ect.), but I really don't want to do those as a career. Hence, my dilemma. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit all of my life. I love Michigan, running, movies, friends, basketball, hiking, music, camping, and biking. I'm the youngest of four. I love being an uncle to three nieces, and two nephews. Recently, I returned from two years serving as a missionary in Texas learning and speaking spanish so that I could teach about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Those two years were incredibly hard, life changing, joyful, and many other things. I could write a book about it. Two years I will never forget and never regret.

Why I am a Mormon

There are a lot of reasons I'm Mormon. I'd have to say that one of the biggest reasons I'm Mormon is because I love people and I value loyalty. I remember a point early in my life that I started to feel conflicted between my Heavenly Father, different groups of friends, and others I cared about. "How I can be true to one without disappointing another?" I thought and felt. I concluded the only way, and the best way, I could be loyal to them all is to stay loyal to someone who always tells you the truth, is always loyal to everyone, and always wants the best for each of us, God. Even when I, or those around me, can't see it; He acts for our best interest, always. Similarly I strongly believe in and have a conviction for standing for truth, whether it favors me or condemns me, popular or unpopular. I believe that the "truth shall make you free". I believe that when we each find and know that truth is truth, that we are happier, have greater peace, greater understanding, and are closer to God. I know that God is the greatest source of knowledge and truth, and that as seen in the Bible, that he is always willing to reveal truth to those that seek. The Book of Mormon is another source of His truth today. I know that there was truth restored and given to the Prophet Joseph Smith, and that God has and continues to reveal life changing truth to us today, just has he has always done.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to always love God and to love all those around me as God would. I strive to have the unconditional love and mercy that he has for us, for others. I hope that I can always be someone that can be trusted to help those I know in their time of need. Another way I live my faith is by trying my best to keep the commandments of God. I believe that all of the commandments that Heavenly Father has given to us are for our good, because he loves us as His sons and daughters. Everything in the Gospel ties back to His love for us. I also live my faith by doing some things everyday to maintain my faith and relationship with Christ, like reading my scriptures, praying, and trying to be more like Christ.
