Hi I'm Emily

I am serving in Puerto Rico as a missionary. I love to serve others. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I attend Brigham Young University where I am able to learn and grow doing the things that I love. I love to express myself through dance and music and I especially love to read good books (whether they are academic or not!). Another thing that I love to do is arrange flowers! I have had the opportunity to make floral arrangements for a few weddings and I think it is so exciting. Most of all I love to work and create things with my hands. I am always happy when I am working on a craft, playing the piano, cooking, working in a garden, and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for my entire life. For this I am eternally grateful because I have been able to see how the gospel of Christ has blessed my family as well as other families and individuals. I continue to choose to be a member of His church because of the love that I feel when I follow the commandments of God. I have felt His spirit as I pray, read the scriptures, serve others, and attend church. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ. In this book we learn even more about Christ and his Atonement for our sins and this is why it is so important to study the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and listen to the words of the prophets. Likening the scriptures to ourselves can bring us closer to Christ and give us peace. I believe that our purpose here on earth is to gain a body for our spirits and learn to choose between right and wrong so that we can become perfect even as God is perfect and live with Him again. However it is only possible to become perfect if we choose to follow the commandments and repent through Jesus Christ. He is our perfect example and through His Atonement we will be able to live again in the presence of God. Jesus Christ is our Savior and the source of all hope. This is why I have chosen to serve a mission in His name, so that I may invite others to come unto Christ and partake of the eternal happiness that He offers us through His everlasting love and Atonement. Christ has already paid the price for our sins and we need only repent and turn unto Him in order to find both temporal and eternal happiness. I am so grateful for all He has done and continues to do for me and for the entire world. I know that if we ask God about the truth of these things in prayer, He will answer those prayers because He has done so for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I love to participate in my ward. There are always opportunities to serve others by contributing my talents that the Lord has blessed me with. I have served as a pianist in my home ward among other callings and I have also previously served as a home evening group leader in my single's ward. By playing the piano I was able to share my love for music and religious hymns with others and as a group leader I was able to plan activities for other young women and men my age at Brigham Young University. I love my ward family and participating in all of our activities has allowed me to connect with others and appreciate all of their talents that they share with me.
