Hi I'm Kalin Lister

I've lived in Nampa, Idaho my whole life. I'm 18 years old and planning to serve a 2 year mission in Lyon, France. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a regular teenage boy who enjoys sports like basketball, cross country, and track, and outdoor activities such as boating, hiking, swimming, and biking. I enjoy hanging out with friends and going on dates (when I can afford it). I have been active in the Mormon church for my entire life and have been blessed with great parents who love me and support me in everything I do. I play an active role in my church ward and enjoy the responsibilities that come with my membership.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the peace and joy that I receive from staying active in my church. The central figure in our church is the Savior, Jesus Christ. Through him we can receive comfort and have our burdens lifted through his infinite Atonement. Through our gospel teachings, we can feel the love that God has for each one of us and know of the eternal plan that he has for us through Christ's gospel. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same church that was organized by Christ is ancient times, and the message is still the same. I have faith that the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, is true and divine scripture that was revealed to the prophet Joseph Smith in the 1800's. I know that Jesus Christ has given authority to our modern prophets to share his will and run His church. Our church is not built to get gain or to receive worldly power, it is simply a way that God has provided for his children to return to live with him in the Celestial kingdom. I love this church with all my heart and know that it and it's teachings are true.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday where I take the sacrament, listen to talks given by ward members, go to sunday school, and then go to my young men's group. I have many duties as a youth in my ward including administering the sacrament and playing the piano at a local nursing home or visiting the sick and afflicted in the ward. We as young men are also assigned home teaching companions, where the two of us go and visit assigned families in the ward. We aid them in any way we can and leave them with a spiritual message. Every Wednesday night, the youth twelve to eighteen years of age participate in youth activities, or what we call "mutual". The youth do fun activities, plan future projects, or organize service projects to those in need. This is a great way to make new friends and strengthen the youth as a whole. I am planning to serve a full time mission in Lyon, France starting in August of 2014. On my mission, through hard work and diligence, I hope to share God's plan of happiness to all I come into contact with.

What is the priesthood?

Kalin Lister
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. God has provided man with his power on earth to carry out those tasks that the Savior performed while he was on the earth. The priesthood is Christ's perfect plan of service. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Kalin Lister
A testimony is the spiritual beliefs of a person that are given to him/her through revelation. The bearing of a testimony is a witness to those listening of the sincerity of that person's beliefs. Show more Show less
