Hi I'm Vivian

I am a mom, a wife, and a grandma. I tutor young reading students. I smile a lot! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four children. One is in the military. One is married with two sons. One is serving a mission. One is still at home and dealing with my husband and I as "older parents". I play volleyball with my friends once a week. That makes me sound athletic. I'm not! The laughter we share is very therapeutic! I like to take walks and read. I have a part time job at an elementary school where I tutor kindergarten through second graders in early reading skills. I also manage the computer lab for these young students. That makes me sound computer savvy. I'm not!

Why I am a Mormon

I first learned about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was ten years old. My mother would take my brothers and I to church, but it was hard to do it consistently. When I was a senior in high school, I decided I didn't want to go and do all that the church required if it wasn't true. I needed to know for myself if the church was Christ's church. If it was true, I wanted to do it all the way and with all my heart. I prayed. They were the most sincere prayers I had ever prayed. I felt an assurance that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that through him Christ's church and gospel had been restored to the earth. I felt a warmth in my heart that I have come to recognize as a way the Holy Ghost communicates to me. As I have continued to learn and serve in the church, I have come to know my Savior better. I am so grateful to have a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. I am a member of the "Mormon" church because I have found that to be where Christ and His gospel are.

How I live my faith

I start and end each day with prayer to my Heavenly Father. I thank Him for His Son Jesus Christ and other blessings and plead for guidance, comfort, strength, and protection. I also make time to study holy scriptures everyday. I live my faith by being kind to those around me. I am careful with the activities I participate in, the TV shows and movies I watch, the music I listen to, and the clothes I wear. I seek to serve others in meaningful ways. When I mess up, I seek forgiveness and try to do better. I live my faith by not giving up on others or myself.
