Hi I'm Debbie

I'm a student. I'm a mom. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm what some may think of as a typical Mormon, but not a typical college girl. I was married at eighteen, had a baby at nineteen, got my associate's degree by twenty and am still trucking along on my way to get a bachelor's degree. It gets hard sometimes but if I could do it over, I wouldn't have it any other way. When I met and got to know my future husband I had no doubt he was the one I wanted to spend an eternity with. Some people frown upon girls that get married so young saying that they don't know what love is or that they are too immature for marriage; just wanting to jump into the commitment to fulfill some inner goal or dream. Anyone who knew me knew i was not that girl. I didn't even want a boyfriend when i got to college and here i was face to face with this amazing guy who I knew I couldn't pass up. After a lot of praying and a lot of decision making, i had to face the facts. When the time is right and the person is right, it's time to make the leap.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had many important life changing decisions to make in my life and I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, has helped me through it all. Though the Spirit's guidance and through thoughtful prayer to my Heavenly Father, I have been blessed in so many ways. Sometimes it seems hard to be a member of the church, but I think about what my life would be like without the church and I am filled with love for the gospel. I was raised with parents that were LDS but I was the one that chose to join the church. I have prayed many times for a confirmation of the truthfulness of the gospel and of the Book of Mormon and I know that they are true. More importantly, I know that anyone can receive answers to their questions if they ask with an honest heart, truly seeking to know. The Lord will never lead you astray.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the teenage girls in our ward and I love it! It's so nice having an opportunity to serve those I go to church with. I am also a visiting teacher where i get to visit with a few sisters throughout the year. I love getting to know the other women in my area and visiting with them. I know that whereve I go, I'll always have a friend through this program. Other than that, I try to live my faith though my every day actions. The LDS church is a church of progress and love. I try my best each day to follow Christ's example and continue to improve my life. I'm not perfect, but if I don't try to be better, I never will be.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is an organization formed in our church for women 18 and older. It is organized under the direction of the priesthood and is led by a presidency of women called by church leaders. It is "a worldwide circle of sisterhood". Through the Relief Society, women are given an opportunity to serve others, as well as to strengthen their own faith and families. Show more Show less
