Hi I'm Kim

I was raised in the Pacific Northwest but now live in Utah. I'm a dentist, a husband, a father, a grandfather... and a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wife and 3 children. Two of my children are in college in Hawaii and Arizona, the 3rd works in New York. I have been practicing dentistry for 30 years. I enjoy cycling and working in the yard, reading and a little guitar playing.

Why I am a Mormon

While I grew up in the church, I didn't always adhere to its teachings. As I grew a little older and read the Book of Mormon, it seemed to speak to me and I felt it was true. I can't say that I had any profound or earth shattering experiences, but it was just a quiet peace I felt inside that its teachings came from God. These feelings motivated me to accept a calling as a missionary for 2 years teaching these things to others. While I know there are many philosophies, lifestyles and dogmas that people in the world adhere to today, I find great peace, hope and assurance by living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have held a variety of volunteer church callings over the years. I served as a missionary in Texas in the early 70's. Currently I serve with the youth and I am also a home teacher to 3 different families in our ward. These callings gives me an opportunity to serve those around me and help me feel I am doing something constructive in building God's kingdom on earth.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Everything centers on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Christ not only paid the price for our sins if we repent, but the Atonement covers all unfairness, sorrow, sicknesses and the injustices of life. I do not know how this was done, but I am so grateful that it was. The Atonement of the Savior applies to all people- all will be resurrected. It also effects you and I in a very personal way as we seek comfort in our lives and try to overcome sin. Because of the Savior's perfect life and the divine nature he inherited from his Father, he was the only one capable of making that sacrifice, paying the debt we all owe, and overcoming the grave. All he asks of us is that we keep His commandments. Show more Show less
