Hi I'm Emily

I have lived in a few states and am now living in Utah going to the University of Utah. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to school at the University of Utah and working. I enjoy a lot of things and I love smiling! I have been on a swim team. I have picked up running in the last few months and I am enjoying life.

Why I am a Mormon

Family, I love my family and with the teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I can be with my family forever. No one has a perfect family, but when you need them they are always there for you. A support group that will never abandon me and I will never abandon them. While I was young I lost a family member and it was very hard on us. I noticed that because of this trial I have come closer to each one of my siblings and my parents. My family members are my best friends. Not only do I have my earthly family but I have my brother Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. I know that I am a Child of God and he loves me and so does Jesus Christ. I feel the love and have received witness myself that I know they are here for me when times get rough. I feel the love they have for me every day of my life through little tender mercies and blessings I see.

How I live my faith

I am currently part of the choir committee and help recruit others to join us. I am also known to bring treats every once in a while. I am not a great singer, but luckily there are so many others that are great that I do not have to worry about being heard. I also participate in the classes and love to hear the things others have to say as I learn just as much from them. I go to as many activities as I can even though life gets going and can get caught up like any other person in this world.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Emily
When we get baptized, we are baptized by immersion and follow the example of Jesus Christ. No one is perfect and as we go thru out life we make mistakes and have done something we may not have been proud of, but because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can repent of these things and be made clean. The immersion of the baptism is important because as a symbol we are buried under the water with our sins but we are then born again coming up out of the water clean and pure. A new slate with no markings on it. We can then take upon the name of Christ and Receive the Holy Ghost, having the Holy Spirit with us and then can receive guidance through out our lives as long as we keep the commandments. As we make covenants with our Heavenly Father he understands we are not perfect and that we do need help. We are able to repent weekly at church every Sunday and be made clean when we partake of the sacrament and remember our baptismal covenants. Show more Show less
