Hi I'm Russell

I am an attorney - it is what I do. I am a husband and father - it is who I am, I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southern Utah. I enjoyed scouting as a youth and am an Eagle Scout. I served a mission to Thailand, and studied at the University of Utah. I married Tamara just before graduating. We found a home and a great community and started raising our family. Almost 7 years and 4 sons later I returned to school again. We have added two more children to our family and have returned to live in my home town in Southern Utah. I am a member of the Kiwanis club, an international service organization. With 5 sons, my wife and I have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, with all five sons earning the rank of Eagle. Our daughter is a joy and actively involved in service projects, piano, dance and sports. Our children are involved in a wide variety of activities including music, theatre, sports, art, education and academics. My main hobby/interest has been trying to keep up with them. My life is greatly enriched because of my wife and children and all of their activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a great start in the faith because I was born to a family that was active in their faith as Mormons. As I read and studied the Book of Mormon, Bible, and other scriptures, both before my mission and during my mission, I received a spiritual confirmation through the Holy Ghost of the truthfulness of the Gospel and the restoration of missing priesthood saving ordinances. This was not a single or solitary event. Rather, I felt this spiritual confirmation many times, and still do. I continue to read the scriptures, pray, and regularly attend worship services with my congregation. I gain spiritual strength by doing so, and, hopefully, strengthen family, friends and neighbors as well. Furthermore, although I know the teachings found in the scriptures, and the word of God that I hear from our living prophet and apostles are all true, sometimes I stumble in my attempt to follow them, succumb to temptation or err and must repent. I have felt the tremendous power of the atonement and the Savior's love during those times of repentance. It is a feeling that I cannot deny, and which I know is connected with my faith in Jesus Christ as well as the powerful priesthood ordinances which I have received. This feeling of my Redeemer's love has strengthened my faith and belief and is why I continue to strive to live in accordance with my Heavenly Father's plan of happiness.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving with my congregation, and try to serve where ever the Lord needs me. I also serve my community, with my family whenever possible, through the Kiwanis club. I believe that if my children learn to love serving others it will be one of the greatest blessings in their lives. I have tried to accept every assignment and calling when asked, and have been blessed to have been able to serve in almost all positions in the congregation. While one of the most rewarding assignments was to serve as Bishop of the Ward, I have received great blessings and have been spiritually rewarded in all of my callings.
