Hi I'm Jen Kurtz

I'm a sister, I'm a writer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of five kids, four girls and a boy. I love my family and enjoy spending all the time I can with them. I love to make short videos with my little sisters. They can get pretty creative! I love doing anything creative, especially writing. I have written some short stories and have outlines for novels. I hope to become a published fantasy writer someday. The authors that inspire me the most are J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. I plan on going to college and majoring in English. I'm currently serving a mission for the Church in California.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the Church, and I know that it is true. I have always known and felt that Heavenly Father loves me and is there for me, and that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I have read the Book of Mormon and can honestly say that it is the word of God. I have had the Spirit testify to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to restore Christ's true church back to the earth. I also know that we have a living prophet on the earth. He receives revelation from God for our day. I know that families can be forever through this gospel. There was not just one experience where I felt that this was all true, but many. I know it, and I cannot deny it. And I love it!

How I live my faith

I try my best to follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ in all that I do. I'm by no means perfect, but I always strive to be better. It's so important to show love to everyone and serve them, just as Christ did. I try to help others in any way I can. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in no way just a Sunday religion. The gospel is a way of life and I try to live it every day. We are taught that we must have faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repent, and continually keep the commandments. I strive to keep my faith strong by daily scripture study and prayer, and by going to church each week. I'm not perfect, but I always try to keep the commandments and follow the example of Christ. I know that mistakes are a part of the learning process, so I always strive to learn from my mistakes and become better. The only way to do that is through Christ's Atonement.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Jen Kurtz
Everything tells me there is a God: Beautiful sunsets with clouds varying shades of pink, red, orange, and gold; Breathtaking land formations like mountains, valleys, deserts, forests, and ocean sides; Every variety of creature and their diverse traits, abilities, and appearance. Everything. I look at all things around me and know without a shadow of a doubt that there is a Supreme Creator. And of all His grand creations, He loves and cares about us the most. I have felt His love, and I know that He is there watching out for us all. Show more Show less
