Hi I'm Jon Snider

I was raised in Colorado. I am a student, a brother, and started a small business. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of four kids. I grew up in the Denver area in Colorado and loved it there. I have many hobbies, most of which deal with being around people. I love conversations that make you think. I enjoy studying finance, economics, politics, and religion. I enjoy playing various video games and most especially enjoy watching movies with others. I am currently a Sociology major with a strong desire to graduate so i can actually be a producing member of society. I love my country and enjoy learning all i can about the system in which we live. Last year i did start a small business(very small) to help pay for college and have enjoyed it very much, although i do not think it holds a future for me. My heart lies elsewhere it seems. I love learning about other cultures and faiths. I find it to be enlightening to sit at the feet of others who i do not understand and to hear them speak about what is important to them. I suppose i should include a little about my humor. I love corny jokes and am always spouting things that inevitably come out wrong. I have found that life is far more enjoyable when all your jokes come out wrong.

Why I am a Mormon

Wow... this is a rather lengthy subject upon which i will attempt to be succinct. I am a member of the LDS church originally because i was born into it. That was enough for me until i served a mission at the age of 19. I began to question everything i knew, mainly because i met many wonderful people who told me all about their faith. It was very enlightening as i heard them talk about what was important to them. I discovered that everybody had wonderful things to teach as well as learn. I also discovered that the more you were interested in another's thoughts on a subject, the more open they became. It was good for me, because I needed the excuse to learn all i could from those i met. As my knowledge grew, so did the questions. For a while, I felt very lost and unsure of what i was about. However, the Lord had other plans for me. He provided so many wonderful experiences through the Holy Ghost. I remember a time I was ready to give up and something occurred that had me laughing because i knew that the Lord was there for me. I learned over time that when things are at their worst is usually when the Lord will visit you. As a representative of Christ's church, the overwhelming conviction that came into my heart is that God lives, and His son Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. My witness was strengthened through experience and inspiration. Later i would receive the witness as to the authenticity of the Prophets of God, beginning with Joseph Smith. The Lord watches out for me and loves me very much just as he does all of you. He will never forsake you. I have seen His hand in my life so many times that i have lost count. I continue with the LDS church, not because of a blind devotion to a socialized life, but rather because i have asked the hard questions and the Lord has answered them. My knowledge is from His hand and through His servants. He has never forsaken me, nor forgotten.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a Secretary for my local ward. This basically means i assist the Bishop(our local leader) with anything and everything he asks me to do. It grants me the wonderful opportunity of getting to know many people as i am the one who waits while the Bishop does his interviews. It makes for very enjoyable evenings. I also visit various individuals on a monthly basis(most often so, occasionally i am not as on the ball as i should be, but i am always working to improve. :) ). I
