Hi I'm Heather Ray

I am indeed a Montanan. I have an affinity for running and a passion for living. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest in a family of five children. I grew up in Montana where the fields are spacious and the mountains are always ready to be climbed, hiked and biked. I am a Dietetics major with the hopes of offering the world so much more than diet consultation, but more empowering communities with the knowledge of how influential nutrition is to what we can achieve. To be perfectly honest I do not have the most interesting life. I have learned that is okay, because life is about being passionate and genuine about the small things in everyday life. Life is about taking the resources, skills, and experiences we have been given and becoming what we really desire and what God expects of us.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child my father was atheist. My mother is a member of the church and raised my siblings and me in the gospel. I always had these two distinct view points guiding me my entire life. One side telling me I should pray and walk by faith, while the other part had me analyzing and seeking for scientific evidence. It was difficult because each side did make sense to me. As I got older I realized that faith truly is a choice. You choose to believe whether you view a good thing in your life as a blessing from God or merely luck and coincidence. We have to desire to know if God is really there. We have to choose to act and experiment with prayer, fasting, and studying the scriptures. As we make our own individualized and sincere efforts to know God, He will help us know that He is there. Once I knew God was there it was a matter of finding who was teaching the truth about Him. I attended several churches with friends, but most importantly I sought God's counsel as to where He wanted me. I received answers to prayers that Jesus Christ did restore His church, power, authority and true doctrine through Joseph Smith. I felt that the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. The Spirit has testified to me in my heart that God does call prophets and apostles today. I am Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I do believe it is Christ's church here on earth.

How I live my faith

I know that God lives and Christ is His Son and our Savior. It is through His Atonement that we can see things in our lives that are not patterned after Him and receive strength and direction on how to change them. I live my faith by studying the scriptures daily so that I can come to know Christ better each day. I try to pattern my life after His. This can be difficult sometimes because Christ is not physically here. But there are many wonderful people who are close with Christ and as we observe them, we can begin to better understand who Christ truly is. I believe a big part of living our faith is seeking to see the Christlike attribute that each person possesses and their potential.
