Hi I'm Maxwell

I grew up in the desert of Southern California and moved to the mountains of Montana my freshman year. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated in the high school class of 2014. I love running and will try to run for the rest of my life! I am a music lover and started on percussion. My Junior year I switched to trumpet and added french horn my senior year, which is my favorite instrument of all time. The interesting thing is that the instrument I made it to a state festival with, was with a harmonica. I was not playing a solo but was playing in a jazz combo group, in which I switched to harmonica for one of our pieces from trumpet. My favorite class in school other than music class was math class, especially Calculus. I leave for a mission in Madrid, Spain in August. I will return to the United States after my two year mission and attend BYU Provo. I anticipate majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in music. I earned the rank of eagle scout and have hiked through the Wind River Range in Wyoming.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was already Mormon, however, the reason I am a Mormon is because of Gordon B. Hinckley's talk titled "The six Be's." I recall the Spirit telling me to get my life in order during this talk and as I got my life more in line with the standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I noticed that my life had more purpose and more importantly, more light. The sun did not get brighter but when I try to live as Jesus did while on the Earth, I feel as though the world has more light. I have found this light to be far more valuable to me than anything on earth. I bear testimony that this light that I feel each day, as I do my best to live as Jesus would, is the Holy Ghost whom our Father in Heaven promised would abide with those who follow Him and keep his commandments.

How I live my faith

On Sundays I participate in the first meeting of my ward by either blessing or passing the sacrament to the congregation. The sacrament is a symbolic event that is performed each Sunday in each ward that represents Jesus Christ's atonement. In the third meeting of church I sometimes attempt to play piano for an opening song. When I was in high school I went to early morning Seminary before school started. Seminary is basically a voluntary church class. When it came time for Seminary graduation in my last year of Seminary, I pieced together an ensemble of Seminary students I knew and we performed an arrangement of "Where Can I Turn For Peace" for the Seminary graduation ceremony.
