Hi I'm Emmanuel

I grew up in Tahiti, French Polynesia. I love sports especially basketball. I decided to serve an LDS mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah, USA. My father is originally from the Chicago area and my mom from Tahiti. We moved to Tahiti when I was 2 years old. I have lived there since then. I love my island home. The people are extremely friendly and warm, the food is awesome and diversified, the landscape is breathtaking. I study a lot and I can say I've been successful so far in my studies. However I decided to postpone my college years and leave my peaceful island in order to serve a 2-year mission for The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nevada.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents became Mormon during their childhood. I was born in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However I obtained the firm knowledged of the truth of this Church when I was 11. My parents had shared with me their personal testimony of the Church but they had also invited me to search for mine own by reading and pondering upon the teachings of The Book of Mormon and faithfully praying to know if they were true. One night I felt I should act upon what they had shared with me. So I read The Book of Mormon and I prayed and simply asked my Heavenly Father if The Book was true, if Joseph Smith was really a prophet called by God and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His chruch on Earth. I waited a minute and I began to feel an extremely powerful feeling of joy, comfort and peace. At that very moment I knew God had heard my prayer and I knew that The Book of Mormon was true, that Jospeh Smith was a prophet and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the only true Church of Christ on Earth. I know that God answers faithful prayers. I know the words of James in the New Testament are true, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men lberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." (James 1: 5-6) I also know that the promise of the prophet Moroni in The Book of Mormon is true, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." (Moroni 10: 4-5)

How I live my faith

As a youth, I participated in many church-sponsored activities such as youth conferences, camp outs, etc. I participated in early-morning seminary which consists in a daily-early-morning-scripture-study class. I was also given many responsabilities. I helpt plan and organize activities, teach youth during sunday lessons and much more. I was also assigned with my father to visit a few families in order to share a message, help them in their personal needs, become friends, support them in their challenges and accomplishments. Now I'm preparing to serve a mission. During 2 years I will give all my time to go out and invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. I'm really excited to do that because I know it's the right thing to do.
