Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Sugar City, Idaho. I'm a Mom and a Grandma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in March. We enjoy spending time at the cabin and visiting family. I am a Mom of five children and a Grandma of 14. One of my favorite things to do is to support my kids and grandkids in everything they do, such as running, baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, singing, piano, and dance, etc.. I also love to garden and to read great books. I taught reading in Title 1 for 20 years and enjoyed helping my students become better readers.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I grew up in the Church. I was baptized when I was 8 at an old Tabernacle in Rexburg. I remember being confirmed the next day on Sunday. That day when we sang the sacrament song "Jesus Once of Humble Birth" I remember crying really hard...sobbing really...and not really understanding what I was feeling. Now every time I sing that song I know that I was being given the gift of knowledge that the Savior lived and died for me. I have not always been active in the Gospel of Jesus Christ but I have always known that it is true and the church members have always been a comfort and a blessing in raising my family and I am so much happier when I am striving to keep Heavenly Father's Commandments and when I am serving and helping others.

How I live my faith

I have been serving in the scouting program as a den leader for the last several years. The scouts have done many service projects such as cleaning up litter or cleaning the toys in the nursery. They have built tool boxes and bird houses. They are kind to others and obedient to their leaders and teachers. They are learning how to do their Duty to God and their Country. In past years I have been part of a group of leaders that organized several camps for the youth of our church. I helped start a youth leader training program to assist young women to become better leaders. I now work with my husband in helping young single adults with activities and service projects. We grow a garden with the group and have canned salsa from that produce that we eat all year at our activities. I have always enjoyed teaching children and young adults about the Life of Christ and his teachings. It has been my privilege to coach my daughters and then some of my granddaughters in softball. They and the other young ladies that played made it fun!
