Hi I'm Rigby Butikofer

I grew up in Salt Lake City, I love baseball and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm the oldest of 3 kids, I love to play baseball and golf. I am currently serving a full time mission in the great state of Kentucky!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life. My parents raised me well, we went to church every Sunday. As the years went by, I found myself just going through the motions, going to church on Sunday and youth activities through out the week. I never really had the desire to put in a little bit of effort in those activities to where I would actually get something out of it. I know that the lord truly knows what is best for us and sometimes we need to trust him! Going into the summer before my senior year of high school I was on a travel baseball team. We were gone quite a bit, and I never really had fun like you think you should have playing the sport you love. I noticed that some of the things that I was doing or not doing were not bringing me the happiness that I desired. I did some thinking and pondering and I came to the realization that I never really studied the scriptures or even prayed. I made a decision to change that and my desire to play collegiate baseball sort of was swept away and the desire to go on a mission and serve the lord was the greatest desire of my heart. A few months later I was able to go to a baptism and there were two wonderful missionaries that I was able to meet, during that time I was feeling a little down and out. As I talked with these two missionaries I felt an overwhelming feeling of love, I know that they were placed in my life for that specific reason at that specific time. God is all knowing, his time is the perfect time. My grandmother always taught me to live my life in a way that those who don't know him, will want to know him because of you. These two elders exemplified that statement. As I have done the little things such as reading, praying, and going to church I have become a better person and I have truly been the happiest as I have been in the service of others.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith, 3 nephi 5:13 "Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life." At the moment I am currently serving as a full time representative of the lord Jesus Christ in the wonderful Kentucky Louisville area. As a missionary of the church we teach people about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We teach about the restoration of the priesthood authority through the prophet Joseph smith. We believe that message allows us to receive all of the blessings that our Heavenly Father has for us. I try to be the best example that I can for others, I have found that the best way to show your example is through service. If you want to be happy, serve! As a Book of Mormon prophet has said "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." Sometimes it is hard to continue to live true to your faith especially when people try to tear down your faith. It definitely gives you a greater perspective of some of the things that Christ went through the. The truth is like a lion, you don't have to defend it, let it loose and it will defend itself.
