Hi I'm Etsuko

I grew up in Japan and was baptised when I was 20 years old. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I love reading and music. My husband and I have 3 adult children and three grandchildren who are our most precious possessions. In my 20's I served a full time mission in Japan. Now, my husband and I are about to serve another mission as a couple. I've lived in Japan, USA, UAE and Australia. I love to learn about and experience different cultures - we have had wonderful experiences in each country we have visited and the friendships we have gained as we have travelled are a treasure to us.

Why I am a Mormon

After learning about the Saviour, I wanted to become a part of His church on this earth. Soon after I was baptised I had to choose between my desire to remain faithful to the church and follow my family's traditions. My family pressured me to follow the traditions of my country. But, I had read in Matthew 10:38-40 "And he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me." I decided that I needed to follow the Saviour, whatever the cost. I have been so blessed since that commitment. The gospel beings joy into our home every day.

How I live my faith

I have had several callings since joining the church and each has been a wonderful experience and challenge. Each calling has helped me to grow. Sometimes I felt that the calling was too difficult for me to fulfil but family and Heavenly Father helped me to enjoy my calling to serve others. I always feel blessed as I am able to serve others. My favourite callings have been teaching the gospel and working with young children. The gospel is an integral part of my daily life - it gives me focus in all I do and provides encouragement and support when I feel down.
