Hi I'm Brian Bates

I grew up in a small town in Idaho. I am now serving a mission in the California Roseville Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Once I return home after my mission, I will attend college to get a PhD in Opthamology.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been greatly blessed by the Lord. He has helped me to know of the truthfulness of His gospel. My grandmother had wide-spread cancer, and one day she had to have emergency surgery. They gave her two maybe three days to live. I was devastated. I went to a quiet part of the hospital and prayed. I asked if I would see her again, and if the Plan of Salvation was true. I received by the Holy Ghost an overwhelming feeling and knowledge that I would see her again after this life, that everything was going to be okay, the Plan of Salvation was true, and that I needed to continue to pray and begin fasting for my grandmother. I did as I felt I should, fasting and praying. we stayed for almost a week, and she was doing a little better. We came home to catch up on work and school. We went back almost every weekend for a few months. During that time I was praying a lot and fasting weekly. She became so well that she was able to go back home. She even was able to get another haircut after the kemo radiation therapy she had had before the surgery. We were able to celebrate another birthday of hers. Not long after that the cancer had become more aggressive. By then however, I had learned to rely on and trust in the lord. I prayed and asked Heavenly Father why the cancer would come back. I felt that her time was coming. She passed away that December. She was in a lot of pain, and it was good that she wasn't in pain anymore. I know that I will see my Grandmother again. I know that she is well. I know that Heavenly Father wanted me to ask Him for myself of whether or not the Plan of Salvation was true, and whether or not He really listens. I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father is ready and so willing to listen to us. All we have to do is pray. Sometimes we may not get the answer we want, but He knows what's best for us. I know that as we strive to increase our faith in Him, and our faith in doing things His way, we will be blessed.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving the Lord in California. I am teaching and serving the people here. Each day I try to help someone to come to know of the Plan of Salvation. It truly is His gospel.

In whom should we have faith?

Brian Bates
We should have faith in Heavenly Father. The Apostle Peter taught that “there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). We need to actually trust in him, and be willing to act in whatsoever he may prompt us to do. Show more Show less
