Hi I'm Mataya

I'm from Idaho. I love learning, baking, photography, the outdoors, and being with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho. I love the outdoors and enjoy spending some of my time hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and kayaking. I am a current college student studying Dietetics. I also love to play Volleyball and going jogging or on long walks! I love my family and hanging out with them more than anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I did not grow up in an active family. My grandparents, who have been active members of the church since I was born, would teach me a lot, and I can remember how I felt when they would share their testimonies with me. We would read scriptures together and when I would go visit their town, they would take me to church with them. I can remember how happy that I felt as I was associated with the gospel, and, looking back, I know that the Spirit was always near. I prayed a lot as a child and each time that I would, I was given greater confirmation of an existing Heavenly Father. He became one of my great friends. I always wanted to go to church each Sunday, and I asked Heavenly Father if I could get there someday. When I was 8, I was asked if I wanted to get baptized. I was absolutely positive that it was what I wanted for myself! My grandpa baptized and confirmed me as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I got my first set of scriptures on my baptism day by my mother. I loved to read them, and I felt in my heart that they were true. My family still didn't go to church, so neither did I. However, I continued to pray that I could get there. When I was in the 6th grade, I went to girls camp for the first time, and it was where I received the greatest confirmation of my testimony of the church. I went home from camp and explained what I had felt to my mother. We started going to church, and I have been an active member ever since then. My love for Jesus Christ and for his church is indescribable. There is nothing that can waver my testimony of truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I am going to a college ward right now, and I work as a member of the leadership in the women's program. It is definitely a calling given to me by the Lord! It has taught me to reach out to my fellow sisters as well as how to better organize myself and my time. It has made me realize that the church is truly about love. Leaders are called to watch over Heavenly Father's children and to give love, support, and relief to others. I also try my hardest to read my scriptures every day! They bring peace and comfort to me as well as direction when needed. I have found that prayer is essential in my life. I love attending my church meetings each Sunday. I try my hardest every single day to be kind to everyone and to see them as Christ does.
