Hi I'm Teri

I am a very blessed wife, mother of 5 awesome kids, grandmother of 7 beautiful children of light and a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Boston and raised in Washington and California. My mother was Lutheran when I was tiny and I remember going to Lutheran Bible School. I loved the stories of Jesus I heard there. My father was LDS and when I was a little girl, my mother was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of my most cherished childhood memories is of the trip we took from Washington to Los Angeles, California to be sealed in the temple. I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I met and married my wonderful husband. We have lived in California and Utah. We have five terrific children and 6 (soon to be 7) amazing grandchildren. I love being a wife, mother, and grandmother! After staying home for 20 years to raise our children, I returned to teaching elementary school half days. I taught first grade Reading Recovery (an intervention for struggling readers) for the past several years and thrilled to witness "the light come on" for my students when they finally were able to read. I love to read, quilt, and do family history but what brings me the greatest joy and what is most important to me is my family. Now I am serving as a full-time missionary. My husband and I preside over 240+ missionaries in California. I love being their mom away from home as they serve the Lord and invite others to come unto Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth in these latter days by the Prophet Joseph Smith. This knowledge defines who I am and how I live my life and brings me much happiness and peace. I am grateful to know that there is a Prophet who leads the Church today and receives revelation that provides guidance and blesses my life when I follow his counsel. I love the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I know it is the word of God. I am a Mormon because I love my family and the Gospel teaches us how to live in harmony and love. I have made sacred covenants in a holy temple that will allow my family to be together for eternity. I am a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ love me and want me to be happy. I know that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can return to live with them forever.

How I live my faith

I try to pattern my life after our Redeemer Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He lived a life of obedience, service, and love. I am trying to develop the Christ-like attributes of faith, hope, charity and love, virtue, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence, and obedience. It takes constant effort, scripture study, and prayer to make any progress in my quest and I am not anywhere close to being there. But I know that if I continue on this path I will find peace and joy in this life and salvation in the world to come. I find true joy in service and have learned that when I help others, it puts my own problems in a fresher perspective. I have had the opportunity to work with and teach children, youth, and adults as I have fulfilled assignments from my church leaders. I have tried to teach my children that every person deserves their love and respect and the best way to make friends is by serving others. I have served in the PTA, on our city's planning commission, as a state delegate, and helped create a volunteer after-school literacy tutoring program at the local elementary. These activities have given me the opportunity to get to know my neighbors and develop lasting friendships.
