Hi I'm Austin

I grew up in Mexico. I love to cook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 4 kids and I love spending time with my siblings. I'm about to graduate with my Master's Degree in accounting. I just got married and couldn't be happier. My parents decided to move my family to Mexico when I was 4 years old. I lived there for 5 years, and was blessed to grow up immersed in a different culture. I had the opportunity to live abroad again when I served as a missionary for the LDS church in Montevideo, Uruguay. Serving a mission was one of the best experiences of my life. I've been able to travel quite a bit. I grew up going hiking and camping and seeing some of God's wonderful creations at higher elevations. Last fall I got scuba certified and now I'm excited to explore another aspect of this earth, the ocean.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born to parents who were already members of the church, they always allowed me the freedom to make my own decisions. When I was about 16 I started having doubts about the existence of a God. I'm a very logical person, and I couldnt understand how everything fit together, much less how there could be a God. I didnt share these thoughts with anyone, but continued praying and studying my scriptures, trying to get a better understanding of God's mysteries. After a few months, I was at a musical program for Easter, listening to scriptures and hymns. I had the impression that it didnt matter if I knew everything, or understood it all, but what did matter is that I am a child of God, and He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. He led a perfect life, being a perfect example, and then atoned for the sins of mankind to give each person an opportunity to live eternally with Him and with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping others praise God through music. My mom nudged me towards becoming a pianist at a young age, and I've been able to play the piano at worship services since I was 14. In the last year, I've learned to play the organ and love how close I feel to God through music. I have the opportunity to visit the families in our ward, get to know them, and be there for them. The ward I serve in is specially designated for young, married couples who are pursuing college education. Its a unique experience and I love making friends with other people in similar situations. I love being able to serve. Jesus taught that you can serve others by serving Him, and I participate in various service groups at my university.
