Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Utah, but also lived in California & Argentina. I'm a happily married father of 5 & grandfather of 7 & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as the sixth child in a family of 11 children. I'm as middle as you can get with 3 older sisters and 3 younger sisters and 2 older brothers and 2 younger brothers. I always felt privileged to have so many built-in friends and, as the middle child, I felt lucky to be old enough to pal around with the oldest siblings and young enough to be friends with the youngest. I learned early how important family is and I love knowing that families can be together forever. After serving a mission to Argentina for my church, I attended a wonderful university where I met my sweet wife. After graduating, I got a job with the same university and have worked there for over 32 years. I love how education changes our lives for the better and I love associating with good people who are trying to stretch and grow and improve. I love the Church's teaching that "the glory of God is intelligence or in other words light and truth."

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I have experienced a personal conversion that has blessed my life in many ways. The Church has a remarkable organization, with something for people of all ages. It is a tremendous help in raising a healthy, loving family. It gives direction and purpose to life and having a living prophet helps us know how to live Christ-like lives -- even when the world around us gets a bit crazy. I am grateful to feel God's love in my life.

How I live my faith

My faith has been central to my life for as long as I remember. I grew up in a loving home with a musical mother who played sacred, beautiful music on the piano. My mission to Argentina confirmed what I had believed my whole life - that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, and that Christ's original church (established when he was on the earth) has been restored through a living prophet in our day. Daily prayer and scripture study bring peace and direction to my life in even the busiest and craziest times. I especially enjoy reading the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Christ, which is a tangible, wonderful evidence that God loves us as much today as he did those in the days of the Bible. I love mingling with others in the church, sharing with them and being taught by them. Being a part of a faith where everyone plays an active role has brought me tremendous growth and happiness.
