Hi I'm Kylie

Music is my passion. Adventure Enthusiast. Soon-to-be Missionary in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest of 9 children total. My parents are divorced and both remarried. There are 4 of us originally- me and three of my brothers. Two more from my step-dad, two from my step-mom, and another baby sister from my dad and step-mom. As complicated as that all may sound I count all as my full siblings. This last year I left all my family and moved about 3000 miles away across the ocean to live and go to school in Hawaii at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. There I worked as a Tour Guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Living in Hawaii changed my life and helped me learn and grow more than I would have ever imagined. I cannot wait to return in a year and a half. During that year and a half I will be living in Ecuador serving the Lord as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormon church. I could not be more excited for that next chapter of my life!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been a member of this church my whole life, I haven't always understood it or had a full testimony of this church. I didn't quite figure out how much I believed this church was true until my young teens. It has been a long and slow process that isn't anywhere near finished. I am constantly learning new things in this church and constantly growing to understand more and more of who my Father in Heaven is. This is the main reason why I have volunteered to serve a full-time mission in Ecuador; I want to help others who are lost and searching to find who they are and their purpose because I know what it feels like to be lost and without hope. Some people would argue that one can't fully know this church is true without any other experience because all you know is this one church. As true as that has seemed to me at times and as much as it has made me question my own faith I do know this: I have never felt so much clarity, peace, and safety as I do when I am following the teachings of this Church. I have no reason to test any other religion or lifestyle because this one has made me happier than I ever thought possible and continues to do so.

How I live my faith

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I attend regular church meetings every Sunday. In the past I have served as a leader of my youth groups as Seminary Class President, as well as Laural Class President. I have also served as a teacher for the Gospel Doctrine class in my Young Single Adult ward while I was attending school in Hawaii. Also while I was attending a Young Single Adult ward I served as a visiting teacher where I and a companion- usually my roommate- were assigned another girl in the ward to focus our attention on and make sure that her needs were met. This was such a cool opportunity to get to know the other girls in my ward and to become really close friends with them. I live my faith by taking an active role in not only my wards but also my community and family. This includes serving in any way I can in every environment I find myself, for example looking out for the needs of my neighbors, friends, family, coworkers, etc. I live my faith by actively serving and giving back to those in need; in other words, I like to pay it forward.
