Hi I'm Jonathan

I grew up in the Phoenix, Arizona area. I am a sports enthusiast, guitarist, lifeguard, Philippines missionary. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived around Phoenix, Arizona all my life. I am the oldest of four siblings. I have one sister and two brothers. Our family has kept a dog as a pet all of my life. I love to play sports. I have participated on soccer, baseball, basketball, football, swimming, and wrestling teams. Although I do play the occasional video game with my friends and brothers I would almost rather go do things outdoors. I love hiking, biking, boating, wakeboarding, tubing and when the weather permits snowboarding and skiing. Doing anything in the water is awesome because we live in a fiery furnace out here. I have picked up the hobby of playing guitar ever since I bought one from my neighbors garage sale a few years ago. I only have an acoustic guitar, but I enjoy playing electric and classical when one is available. I just graduated from high school and have decided to put off college for 2 years to go on a mission in service of the LDS Church. I have been called to serve in the Philippines, Tacloban mission and I can't wait to go serve the people of the Philippines and my Heavenly Father!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church all my life. Now I know people can get all wrapped up in the politics of the church and find imperfect things with how it is run, but I have come to know for myself that this gospel is true. And that is the most important thing. You don't have to believe that the church is perfectly true all the time because it's run by people who make human mistakes just like us. The reason I continue to be a member is because I believe and know with all my heart that this is the perfectly true gospel and that it has been given to us in its fullness in these latter days by Jesus Christ himself through his prophet Joseph Smith. I know that if you are struggling to know for yourself if the teachings of this gospel are true that all you need to do is study it out in the Book of Mormon and then ask in prayer to your Heavenly Father if what you are learning and reading is true. He will answer your prayer as He has answered mine. The strength the gospel gives me to push on through life is what means the most to me. The knowledge that there is a God that loves you and wants to welcome you back with open arms after this life really helps me to endure through the hard times. I don't know where I would be without it!

How I live my faith

I try to be vocal with others about my faith and give people in that I talk to a positive view of the church. I assist in service projects with my grandpa and friends throughout the community. I enjoy helping others anyway I can which is my way of living my faith and helping build God's kingdom on Earth.
