Hi I'm Brittany

I was born and raised in Texas. I work with children with autism. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 children. I am 25 years old and have been married to my best friend for 5 years. We have no kids but we do have a cute pet hedgehog! I play the piano, and played the oboe in high school and college. I work with children with autism and I love psychology and behavior analysis. I got a bachelor's degree in Psychology and am working on a master's degree in Special Education. My husband recently joined the United States Army band so I'm an army wife now!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were already active LDS members. We did all the things we were supposed to when I was growing up -- family prayer, family scripture study, going to church, etc. I continued these habits into my adult life. I had felt the Holy Spirit many times, and that's what kept me going throughout my childhood and teen years. Just a few months ago, I decided to make sure that what I thought was my testimony was really my testimony and not my parents' testimony. I decided to start reading the Book of Mormon. I had read it before, but this time I did it with a purpose -- to try to build my personal testimony. I made a scripture journal where I would read a chapter each night and then write about what the chapter was about and how it applied to me, and what I should do differently because I read that chapter. Then I'd write down my goal for the next day so I'd remember to do it. This has really changed my life. I feel much more in tune with God, I feel happy even though everything in my life isn't perfect, and I feel like my testimony is really growing. And it's because I followed the commandments that God has set for His children so that we can be happy. I have had many prayers answered and my faith is growing. I know the stories and principles taught in the Book of Mormon are true because "by their fruits ye shall know them". The Book of Mormon has yielded nothing but good fruit for me. It has showed me how to be a better person, closer to God, and I can sense the Holy Spirit with me throughout my day. I am so much happier than I was. I still don't have faith as strong as Joseph Smith's, but it's growing quickly. Reading the Book of Mormon with a purpose is really helping my faith grow and I firmly believe that it is the reason that I have been so happy, full of love for others, and able to feel close to God these last few months. I know I wouldn't be near this happy without it.

How I live my faith

I play the piano for my ward choir. I also help take care of the children 18 months - 3 years old during Sunday school at church on Sundays.
