Hi I'm Elder Brayden Shell

I grew up in Georgia. I'm going to serve a mission in the Chile Santiago North Mission. I love Sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I played lacrosse in High School. I also did gymnastics for five years and so I love to flip around. I just finished my first year at Brigham Young University. Go cougars! I've really gotten into ballroom dancing this past year. I didn't really think that it would be my thing but hey I love it! Another thing that I love is BYU football! I spent most of my first semester of college camping out and painting up for football games. I'm not really sure what I want to major in yet but I know that I want to do something in business.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a Mormon. I have been a member of this church my entire life. However, I choose to continue being a member of this church because I know that it is true. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought happiness, guidance, and stability in my life. The church has provided me with several opportunities to serve other people. I have truly grown to love serving others and have found that I am much happier as I do so. Another reason that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because of the knowledge and testimony I have gained of it's truthfulness. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ. I know that he is our Savior. He atoned for the sins of every single one of us and because of that we are able to repent and return to our Heavenly Father. I also have a testimony that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it is not a substitute but a compliment to The Bible. Together they have the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ restored the gospel in it's entirety through him. I have a testimony that Heavenly Father continues to call modern day prophets to lead and give us guidance today. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers because he loves us. I know that when we pray and ask if the gospel is true that he will testify of its truthfulness to us through the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that we are all his children and that he blesses our lives as we are obedient to his commandments. I know that we can find peace through the gospel of Jesus Christ and I have found that peace. Because of that peace, and the knowledge that I have gained, and the joy that I have in my life I choose to be Mormon.

How I live my faith

There are a lot of ways in which I live my faith. One of the ways that I live my faith is through serving in my church calling. I spent the past year at Brigham Young University serving in a Presidency that organized events for all the men in our congregation. We help plan activities to do with all of the guys in our student congregation as well as gave them assignments of people to check up on in the congregation. Each guy had 2 to 3 girls dorm rooms as well as 1 guys dorm room that they were asked to visit with each month to share a spiritual message and see how they were doing. We call this home teaching. Not only did we assign home teaching but we took assignments as well. I lived my faith each month by visiting with some of the girls and guys from our congregation to make sure everything was going alright. Some of the activities we planned for the men in our congregation were going ice skating, a Christmas party, and an outdoor sports day. Another way in which I plan to live my faith is by serving a full time mission. I will be spending the next two years in Santiago Chile preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people there.
