Hi I'm Ashlyn

I'm a musician, a dance teacher, a fashion enthusiast, and a bookworm. And I'm proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I've been dancing since I could walk and have loved it ever since! I was on the dance team in high school and college, and I LOVE teaching kids what I've learned. I'm also a music addict - I listen to it, I write it, I play it, I sing it, music is everything. My family and I have the travel bug and some of my best memories are experiencing different cultures all around Europe and North and South America with them. The world is a beautiful place and I want to see every inch of it! I have a huge passion for the gospel, and that is why I made the decision to serve a mission. I have been called to serve in the Argentina Buenos Aires North mission and couldn't be more excited!

Why I am a Mormon

There is nothing I value more than the importance of accepting other people. Everyone should be accepted by everyone, regardless of their beliefs, ethnicity, or standards. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of this; he loves every single person who has been, is currently, and will be on the earth. He doesn't love the members of the church any more than he loves the people who reject it. In fact, he loved us all so much that he suffered for our sins so we could have the opportunity to live with Him again. If Christ loves us that deeply, it only makes sense that He would give us commandments and standards to follow for the sole purpose of helping us get back to Him in heaven for the rest of eternity. I am a Mormon because I have felt His love for me. I have felt it in my heart when I prayed to know that this church was true, and I have seen it through all of the many blessings in my life every day. I am grateful that I can pray to my Heavenly Father any time I need help making a decision, and I know that he has guided me through it all. It is so comforting to know that there is someone always watching out for me who loves me and has my best interest at heart.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every second of the day - it affects the way I dress, the way I speak, the way I spend my time, it is all a reflection of my beliefs. Some people look at these as restrictions, but I see them as enormous blessings in my life. How fortunate are we to have a Heavenly Father who loves us enough to give us guidelines to protect us and keep us on the right path and bless our lives every day! In order to serve a faithful mission, I have to make a lot of sacrifices. I will be giving up my music, time, sleep, friends and family, clothes (hey, I'm a girl - they're important!), dating, dancing, school, my job, and so much more for 18 months of hard work in the mission field. Sounds crazy, right? But you know what, I love the gospel more than all of those things combined. I love it more than anything else in my life and I must be the luckiest girl in the world to have the incredible knowledge of the true church. How could I NOT dedicate a mere 18 months of my life to give other people the opportunity to learn what I have learned? Families can be together forever, we have a Heavenly Father who loves us more than anything, there is a living prophet who has revelation directly from God! It is an honor for me to make this small sacrifice to bring others to this gospel.
