Hi I'm Contessa

I'm from Ridgefield, Washington. I am a writer, a reader, and a speaker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read and write, and to explore the thoughts, opinions, interests, and dreams of others. I'm currently going to college, and I'm loving exploring new horizons. I'm studying to be a teacher, because little kids are the best people in the world and there's nothing cooler than using safety scissors and glitter glue at work! I come from a big family with lots of girls (and one unlucky boy) and I look forward to having a family of my own someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and pure joy that I have been able to have in my life by following the truths of this Gospel. When I was 14, I prayed to the Lord that He would help me feel of His love for me and always have His influence in my life. I was feeling weak and alone, and I was terrified of all the things I knew I would have to face as I went to school and started growing up. In that moment, I felt the Lord wrap His arms around me. In my heart, I felt His love stronger than I ever had before. I felt peace, and courage to face the trials I had ahead. I felt His words enter my heart, telling me that I was loved and that I could be with Him always, if only I would keep His commandments and try to live in a way that the Holy Ghost could be with me. That night I decided that I wanted to feel this way for the rest of my life, so I promised God that I would always follow Him. Since then, I have been blessed with peace and happiness in my life, and I found the courage to endure all of my trials. I am a Mormon because the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have allowed me to know the love of Jesus Christ and feel Him with me always.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others in my community. In church, I teach the youth and speak often, sharing my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and helping those I speak with to come closer to Him by learning of His life and His love. I often volunteer at elementary schools within my community, serving as a teacher's aid and tutor to those students who need a little extra help. I serve as a Visiting Teacher in my ward, visiting with specific women once a month, teaching them the words of Christ and His prophets and apostles. I also spend time serving those women, ministering to their various needs and ensuring that they can feel the pure love of Christ through my service.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to become like God. He has created a marvelous Plan of Happiness that allows His spirit children to become like Him. As part of this plan, we have come to this Earth to receive a physical body, practice making choices and choosing good by using our personal agency, and to have and make families that can be eternal. As we learn to choose to do good, and gain strength and power from the Savior through His atonement, we become more and more like God. Show more Show less
