Hi I'm Tyler

I grew up in Maryland. I love English. I am aspiring to be an author, as well as a movie director. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I discovered in High School how much I loved the English language. I am currently writing a fantasy novel that I want to be published when I get home from my mission. I've also always liked movies, and found how good I am at making them, so I'm going to Brigham Young University Idaho to further my education in Film. I am also a video game nut and a huge Nintendo fan. It's really the majority of what I do; if I'm not writing, editing a video, eating, or sleeping, I'm probably playing video games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in this church. I grew up knowing nothing but the gospel. But now I'm a Mormon because I want to be. I am not a part of this church just because my parents are. I am apart of it because I have sought for myself and found that I have been in the right place. I am in tune with the Holy Spirit, and have asked for its guidance an innumerable amount of times. Sometimes I have doubted. I ask questions. But the Spirit is always there, always there to answer them, always there to remind me that what I know IS true. There was one time when I was at the first Mormon temple in Kirtland, Ohio. I went up to bear my testimony of this church, but the power of the Spirit was so strong there that I immediately started crying when I went up to the podium and nearly had not the power to speak. That feeling of the spirit was my personal confirmation that this church really is true, for nothing else could have caused something that struck that powerful emotion in me. And since then the Lord has, through the Spirit, repeatedly confirmed my knowledge and strengthened my testimony. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Having said that I play a lot of video games, I also know how to prioritize, and I make sure to put the Lord and other important things like family first. As a result, I don't play on Sundays. Or work. Or buy things. The Lord has asked us to keep the Sabbath day holy, and It has truly helped my lifestyle and prevented me from being truly "addicted" to the games. As I have set my career to the study of Media, I have also discovered how Satan can use it to deceive the hearts of men and make sinful things look attractive and acceptable. However, the Lord can use it for the very opposite reasons. Through the things I create, I try to encourage righteous living and promote the standards the Lord has set for us. I hope for my creations to be well-received and in a way counter the bad media that is out there. I am also soon to serve as a missionary in the Nevada Las Vegas mission. I am really excited to go and look forward to dedicating two full years of my life to service for the Lord.
