Hi I'm Matthew Peart

I grew up in Seattle and now live in VA, I'm about to serve my mission to Pocatello Idaho, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old, I've just graduated high school and I want to go to collage and major in Computer Science with a minor in Physics, but right now I'm serving a full time mission in Pocatello Idaho speaking Spanish. Before my mission I loved to do parkor and hang out with friends. I liked to listen to music and drive my car faster then I should have. But right now none of those things matter, I'm a missionary and I LOVE to serve God. I'm not perfect but I'm trying. My family is the most important thing I have. I'm the oldest of 6 kids, we live in a big house out in the country on a 500 acre cattle farm. My parents are the kindest people I know and I love them so much. My mother home-schooled all 6 of us, up until my junior year of high school. I love this gospel and I love my family, and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am/consider myself, Mormon because of action. I go to church, I am serving a mission, I try my best to keep the commandments and to repent when I make a mistake. This action is what allows me to consider myself "Mormon", without this I could not honestly tell people that I belong to the church. This action is a direct result of belief, I believe in the church for one reason. Because God told me it was true. Let me explain. Growing up in the church I knew the doctrine, I knew the beliefs and what was expected, I also understood what the Book of Mormon signifies. The Book of Mormon is the foundation of the church. With out it we have nothing, we have no authority, we have no proof. As the prophet Matthew stated, "by their fruits ye shall know them." The Book of Mormon is the fruit of Joseph Smith, if it is true, Joseph Smith truly was a prophet called of God and truly was given the priesthood. So the true question that people should be asking, isn't even if the church is true, though that is a valid question to ask, but they should be directed to ask simply if the Book of Mormon is true, and that is what I did to receive my own testimony of the truthfulness of this church. God told me, He told me that the Book of Mormon is true, He told me that the church is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that the church is being restored, that families can be together forever. That Christ suffered and died for my sins, and that I can one day, if I live worthy, return and live with Him. All of that and more he told me with one, profound, simple word of truth. "Yes."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by action. Action is the direct result of truly believing on something. Some of the actions that I am taking are as follows: 1. Serving a mission 2. Attending church 3. Keeping the commandments to the best of my ability 4. Reading the scriptures 5. Temple and family history work 6. Prayer All of these things help me live my faith, they help me grow my faith, and they also help grow other people's faith. I am thankful for action and for the opportunity that God has given me to act in his name.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Matthew Peart
Because we love the Savior. When we know, and feel the truth of the gospel, and see its blessings in our lives, we cannot, and we will not, keep them to ourselves. Doing so would go against God, and His son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
