Hi I'm Whitney

I'm an Oklahoman with a large family. I find happiness in service and strive to find joy in the journey. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, my name is Whitney! I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love just sitting and talking with those I love. I also enjoy kayaking. It makes me feel like a part of nature. I just love that feeling of floating on calm water and seeming to have endless possibilities. It's a good place to think. I strive to find a piece of happiness everyday, which isn't too hard for me considering the blessings I have been given. I have incredible inspiring friends and an amazing family. I have 6 brothers and a baby sister and I love them all dearly. I hope that I can bring joy to them as they have brought joy to me. I have been called to be a missionary and to share the word of God with the people of Salta, Argentina. I hope that I can carry the light that the people around me have shared and spread it through Argentina.

Why I am a Mormon

From the time I was a baby I have attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've always loved to learn and loved the peace that comes from the gospel, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I really felt I needed to learn of it for myself. I have never had an AHA moment where everything fell into place. It seems like I am given revelation like light comes through the fog. As David A. Bednar says, "Sometimes the sun rises on a morning that is cloudy or foggy. Because of the overcast conditions, perceiving the light is more difficult, and identifying the precise moment when the sun rises over the horizon is not possible." This is how my knowledge of the gospel has come to me. I can always see enough light to take the next step, and then it gets a little brighter as I continue on the right path. Because of these many moments of light, my life is getting brighter and brighter and my knowledge of the truth grows stronger. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world and that His sacrifice made our lives have hope. I know He lives. I know that our Father in Heaven guides us and loves us. I know this because when I read scripture like the Bible or Book of Mormon, I can feel how important we are to our Father. I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have and for the love of my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so thrilled to get to share this knowledge in Argentina this fall.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am just in a transitioning phase from youth to adult. I just graduated high school where I had the opportunity to be a leader and be involved in lots of activities. I have also been given the same leadership opportunities within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was called to be a leader of the youth committee in my area. With this our committee planned an incredible trip. We took about 200 youth to camp for 4 days and pretend to be pioneers. We reenacted the Mormon Trail and it was such an awesome experience. As a leader, I loved getting to learn things about big groups and even more about each individual. It was amazing to really feel the sacrifice that the people crossing the plains had to go through and to realize the little hardships like not having toilets and getting sunburns. As my leadership within the youth is coming to a close, I am preparing to spread the gospel as a missionary in Argentina. I am studying and learning so that I can become the best me that I can be in hopes that the Lord will bless others with that chance as I teach them about Him.
