Hi I'm Ruth

I love my husband and my family. I am an artist at heart, and enjoy drawing and painting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My mother named me after the Book of Ruth in the Bible. She was a loving and caring mom. My dad was my role model because he was a good thinker, and a hard worker. My parents raised me in the Lutheran Church. When I was a teenager I wanted to know about the various religions, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 17 years old. I have been married for over 25 years to my fun-loving husband and I am the mother of three wonderful children. I teach kids how to do computer programming, how to make their own mobile phone apps, and how to find happiness in what they like to do. I like to figure out how to fix things--just like my dad did when he was alive. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. We do things like hiking, gardening, and visiting fun places like the zoo.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I like to be happy. When I was about 11 years old, my family visited Salt Lake City on our way back from a family trip to Minnesota. We took a tour of Temple Square and learned all about the history of the church. I remember the happy feeling I felt when I was with my family at Temple Square. Years later as a teenager The missionaries taught my family the first lesson, left us a Book of Mormon, but my dad said we were not interested in hearing more. But I did want to hear more, so I found out more by reading the Book of Mormon, by reading books in the public library, and by visiting a Mormon Church with my sister. I called up to have the missionaries come over. I told them that I had read and prayed about the Book of Mormon, and had a real testimony that it was true. So in summary, I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I knew the Book of Mormon was the word of God--Holy scripture that bore record of Jesus as the Christ. Knowing that gave me more happiness than I had ever experienced in my life. I'm a Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I am still very happy because the spirit of the Lord is in my life.

How I live my faith

When I was 21 years old I served as a missionary in Taiwan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a new convert of less than four years, I was very excited to share the happiness of the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. This was the most special time of my life because I saw and felt how people's lives were enriched by the influence of Jesus Christ in their lives. Throughout my years in the church I have participated in numerous service projects such as making meals, sewing clothes, and visiting others. When invited, I speak to the congregation during Sunday services about a gospel topic or summarize a talk given by one of the leaders in the church.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

It is so easy to find someone to talk to about the Mormon religion. There is a link on the "mormon.org" website, or just ask someone you know that is Mormon, and they will introduce you to the missionaries in your area. Or did what I did and just call the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission office and ask to learn more about the Mormons. Show more Show less
